Trekking in Nepal requires specific permits and entry fees, which vary based on the trekking region. Whether you’re exploring the Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, or remote restricted areas, securing the correct permits ensures a smooth and responsible trekking experience.
Trekking permits can be obtained from:
✅ The Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or Pokhara
✅ Authorized trekking agencies like Summit International Travels and Tours
📌 National Park & Conservation Area Permits
Sagarmatha National Park Permit – Required for Everest region treks.
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) – Required for trekking in the Annapurna region.
Langtang National Park Permit – Required for the Langtang region.
📌 Restricted Area Permits (Issued by the Department of Immigration)
Some trekking destinations, such as Upper Mustang and Manaslu, require special permits due to their restricted status. Key points to remember:
These permits are only issued through registered trekking agencies.
Trekkers must be in a group of at least two to enter restricted areas.
📌 TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System)
The TIMS card was previously required for most treks, but some regions no longer require it. Always check the latest permit requirements with your trekking agency.
✔️ Permits are non-refundable and non-transferable, so ensure your dates and itinerary are accurate.
✔️ Carry your permits at all times – officials may check them during the trek.
✔️ Permits must be presented upon request by authorities.
✔️ Obtaining permits from official sources ensures compliance with regulations and supports local conservation efforts.
By securing the necessary trekking permits and following Nepal’s trekking guidelines, you contribute to responsible tourism while ensuring a safe and hassle-free journey.
